The Ben Jackson Foundation is pleased to introduce Military Travel Award recipient, Dylan Schoenecke.  Schoenecke is a 2020 graduate of McFarland High School and a Marine enlistee.  Although originally scheduled to leave for basic training in September, his leave date was moved up to June 21.

Dylan Schoenecke

He will soon begin basic training at Camp Pendelton in San Diego, CA, but upon reaching San Diego, he was put in a 14 day quarantine prior to beginning the rigors of Marine Corps life.  The rescheduling of his departure date from September to June means that he will miss his high school graduation ceremony.  Graduation for McFarland High School was rescheduled to the end of July due to Covid 19 .

Enlisting in the Marines with a 4 year commitment, his intent is to train in Motor Transport Repair.  His mom, Miranda, says that he is very mechanical and is always tinkering with something.  He chose to enlist with the Marines to ensure a secure financial future, and the mechanical training and his interests in anything mechanical will provide him with lifelong skills and opportunities.

Miranda says she will miss him, especially miss his sweet moments, his quirkiness and watching him with his brothers.  His young set of twin brothers will be entering kindergarten this coming school year.  Miranda is both terrified and excited for Dylan as he embarks on this adventure.  She is excited to see how the structure and discipline will shape him as he enters adulthood.

Schoenecke learned about the Ben Jackson Foundation from his mother, who heard about it from her workout buddy, Ben’s aunt Emily Shea.

We thank you for your flexibility and sacrifices you are making to leave early, best of luck from everyone with the Ben Jackson Foundation!!
