The Ben Jackson Foundation is excited to introduce our first Air National Guard Travel Award recipient, Nina Schiro! Nina is a 2019 graduate of New Glarus High School.
Schiro chose the Air National Guard in part because it allows her to serve her country while attending college. Schiro is currently attending Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa where she competes on the swim team. After completing her first semester of college, she will take a semester off to go to San Antonio, TX for Basic Training. Upon completion of the 8 week boot camp, she will go to Fort Lee in Virginia for additional training.
In the Air National Guard, Schiro will be in the Services Field. The Services Field prepares individuals in the fields of Food Service, Exercise Management and Hospitality. These skills will provide Schiro with a wealth of knowledge and opportunity as she begins her career path.
During this time while Shiro is away at college, her family misses her positive and engaging personality. Once she leaves for boot camp and training, she will be further away and have fewer opportunities to come home.
